brooklyn weaves

Fall is coming! Weaves in leaves in Brooklyn!

Weaves in leaves.

Weave and a leaf. Looks posed, but it's au natural.

Weaves in leaves by a tree. And an acorn.

wherez my weave?

It's on the ground.

In NYC. In all 5 boroughs. On your street. In the subway. In your stairwell. In front of your office. In 4/5 of the Starbucks at Union Square. It's on the ground.

Our goal: to capture the motion of New York's pedestrian-laden character by looking at things that fall amongst the crowds and lay still and quiet- on the ground. What are the remnants of NYC passers-by? What do we have left to leave? (Etc? Etc?)

A little history: our area of Brooklyn has a high concentration of hair salons and most of them do various kinds of weaves. Somehow, the weaves often end up outside, on the ground. NYC is one of the best places to see interesting and unique things on the ground, and the weaves on the ground in our neighborhood brought this to our attention. Now we're always looking on the ground! Though but one of many unique things on the ground, weaves are a very important and frequent contribution. We find this interesting and descriptive. Look on the ground in your area. What's hanging out down there?

First things first: we are looking for photo documentation of weaves on the ground. We want to start small (by focusing on weaves) and then expand to really understand and capture different things on the ground in Manhattan and the boroughs. Send in your pictures (wherezmyweave@gmail.com).

But for now, just weaves. On the ground.
