We recently had an inquiry from a reader as to the legitimacy of our weave photos. We just want to reiterate that all of the weaves you see on this page are documented in their originality. We have not placed, arranged or changed anything to our liking. We promise. As for the weave pictures sent in, we assume their originality based on the look and position of the weave and the people who sent them in. Plus, if you go out to buy a weave, throw on the ground and take a picture of it, you probably have too much time on your hands.
We appreciate all questions and comments and don't be afraid to ask!

urban jungle!
This unique and exquisite weave photo is from a friend and faithful follower. It was taken while she was documenting strange things around NYC. But I don't call this strange. No. I call this a thick, curly snake of a weave with an identity crisis. In other words, amazing.
With this, we introduce our version of the cloud-watching game: whatbethatweave. Squint your eyes, cock your head a little, and the possibilities are endless. Whatbethatweave? Tell us what you think!
This is definitely in the top 5.
Thanks Danielle

weaveling
This lock of perfection is obviously from an ill-fated weave, but how did it stay so well preserved? In a dash-like configuration, one might say?
Or! Like a passionate stroke from an ever-graceful, celestial paintbrush, adorning the cruel city street with its glory, its excellence, its curiously ephemeral permanence! Oh boy, it's been a long day.
Size 8.

obama loves weaves
Obama supports weaves. We(aves) support Obama! Just in time for the debate!
Campaigning to be the president of the United States is tiresome. So, in his free time, Obama likes to look for weaves on the ground.* (We understand cause so do we!) We also heard he is extending his "Hope" campaign to include "Hope... to find more weaves on the ground!"** Regardless of his stance on weaves, we think Obama is great and will suspend our weave-searching activities until tomorrow so we have enough time to prepare for the debate, watch it, and also watch Sarah Palin videos on YouTube. ***
*This has not been confirmed.
**We straight made that up.
***We aren't really "suspending" anything, so don't get worried. However, we will be watching the debates and funny Sarah Palin videos cause let's be honest, what's her deal? Doubt she loves weaves!

let's talk about this real quick
This is from about a month ago but its relevance still holds true. What the hell? Most of what we see on the ground is way better than what's happening here.

surpise saturday
It's Saturday! And Saturdays are good so why not celebrate them with some weave specialness? We're trying to get interactive so we'd like to introduce the first in a series called WeaveSpy. The rules are quite simple: we post a picture of a bunch of stuff, and you find the weave in it.
Weave Spy... with our little eye:
Wherez the weave?!
(HINT: It's not at the bottom left eating an orange! That is a mouse! Or a baby rat? Hope no one was saving that orange for later!)

weave of wonder
We received this gem from a faithful follower all the way up in Harlem. Not only did he send in interesting and controversial photos, we also received a striking and thalassic piece on the experience of finding it. (plus it's our first Harlem weave!)
then, when i was on the sidewalk right across the street from my door, as the bell tolled 2, i saw it. i felt a bit like a whaling ship captain when the first whale breaches the ocean surface. i have a lot of whaling experience so i can say that definitively. so there, tangled and tustled amidst the turbulent urban tempest of scaffolding, concrete, water bottle squirt-tops, and empty white castle burger-shells, she lay, the weave of wonder.
Now, we know what you might say: That? That's a hairball!
And you may be right- but who can know for sure? To us, it will always be a weave... of wonder.
thanks Brendan

union square: the new jump-off
And by jump-off we mean place to see weaves. That's right folks, our first Manhattan-based documented weave-on-the-ground sighting! And in Union Square (one of our favorite places)- the sheer luck!
An inaugural story comes with this post: The weave was about two feet away when I saw it. I literally gasped! Then all of a sudden, it rolled toward me- sort of like a tumbleweave but it wasn't. Then it stopped. It's multicolored, too.
Right you are, weave spotting friend, right you are...
Next to a size 7.5 shoe.
Weave on the ground at night. Magenta hues.

just a reminder...
Send us your weave pics! And stories. We know there are some good writers and weave-hunters out there. Contribute, people! We need you to make wherezmyweave all it can be!

the motherload and tumbleweave
Today we were introduced to the notion of "tumbleweave" by our friend, Amanda. Then on the way home, we not only experienced our first tumbleweave, but also our first dual weave action. Big things are happening, people! Let's recount our night.
So, this is the tumbleweave. We first saw it from a distance and positively identified it as in fact a "tumbleweave". As we approached it, it began in a "tumbleweed" motion, rolling and maneuvering along the sidewalk. In the midst of our awe, a passerby accidentally (we think) stepped on it. Thus, we give you flattened tumbleweave.
A rare site indeed. Angle A of the two-for-one special.
Angle B: aerial shot.
Here she is: the motherload. We have a size 8.5 foot next to it for scale.
Here is the second one of the duo. Sizeable as well.
thanks Amanda

wherez my weave?
It's on a dog's head! Special thanks to a loyal reader for taking this amazing photo and sending it in. We don't usually count weaves that are still on someone's head, but we'll make an exception since this is one stylish pooch and it's still very close to the ground.

weave peeve 1
So, there have been discussions amongst our loyal fans about what exactly a weave is and is not. We have to start somewhere addressing this issue. Thus:
Weave on the ground vs. Hairball on the ground
Discuss amongst yourselves.
